Powell, HelenHelen Powell, 93, Green Bay, died Tuesday, April 18, 2017. She was born on May 25, 1923, in Mattoon, WI to Samuel and Ellen (Glick) Criscione. Helen married John L. Powell on August 29, 1939. He preceded her in death on September 23, 1994.For many years, Helen took care of foster babies. She was small in size but feisty. Helen loved Amish peanut butter, chocolate, fun-size candy bars (by the bagful), and Twinkies. She also loved canning, going out for Chinese food, listening to country music, and doing puzzles. Helen thought anything red was beautiful.She is survived by four of her six children: Yvonne (Gary) Cornell, Green Bay; Darold (Gladys) Powell, Green Bay; David Powell, Luxemburg; Janet Spaude, Green Bay; son-in-law, Earl Kazik; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; special friends of the family, Bruce Van Dreel and Julie Spaude; her brother, Lyle Criscione, Oregon; brother-in-law, Cecil Powell; and many nieces and nephews.Helen was preceded in death by her husband; her daughters, Karla VanDenHeuvel and Mary Kazik; sons-in-law, Steve Spaude and Dick VanDenHeuvel; daughter-in-law, Linda Powell; four brothers, Francis, Dale, Kenneth, and Sylvester; and six sisters, Marie, Alice, Angeline, Viola, Delores, and Vivian.In accordance with Helen's wishes, a private service was held.
