Helen Mae "Toni" Varner BarksZANESVILLE: Helen Mae "Toni" Varner Barks, 75 of Zanesville died at 8:35am Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at the Genesis Good Samaritan Medical Center.She was born on September 26, 1937 in Zanesville Ohio the daughter of George R. Varner and Martha M. Wilkins Varner Podiwin."Toni" was an accomplished ballet dancer and pianist. She participated in several beauty contests and was offered a modeling job in N.Y., but chose the role of wife and homemaker. She loved to dance, play cards, shoot pool and be with family and friends, and was an avid Notre Dame fan.She is survived by a son, William (Pamela) Barks, Jr. of Grove City, Ohio; grandsons Ryan (Heather) Barks of Zanesville, Jeremy (Amanda) Barks of Columbus; great-granddaughters Addison and McKenna Barks; brother James (Edda) Varner of Zanesville; special sister-in-law Barbara Varner of Zanesville; nephew Russell L. Varner Jr., niece Julie Varner Weed, grand- niece Nicole Marie Varner and grand-nephew Wesley Weed all from California."Toni" was preceded in death by her mother, Martha Madaline Varner Podiwin, father George R. Varner, step-father Guenther Podiwin; brother Russell L. Varner Sr. and her grandparents.Per Toni's request, friends are asked to dress causal for visitation & funeral. Visitation will be held from 2-4pm & 6-8pm on Thursday, September 26, 2013 and one hour prior to services at the Bryan & Snider Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:00am Friday, September 27, 2013 with Rev. Mr. Burdette N. Peterson officiating at the Bryan & Snider Funeral Home.
