Heather L. Funk (Parish), 45Muncie - Heather L. Funk (Parish), 45, passed away in the afternoon on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, in her Muncie home after a battle with cancer. Heather was born on March 7, 1972, in Indianapolis, the daughter of Rex F. Parish and Dianne Marie Parish. She was a 1990 graduate of Hamilton Southeastern High School in Fishers, where she was a member of the band and was a competitive track and cross country runner. Heather earned a Bachelor of Science in Special Education from Ball State University in 1995.After graduation, she taught at Zionsville High School in Zionsville, Indiana as a Special Education teacher to follow her passion of helping others. Her students were very near to her and were delighted when she asked them to attend and be a part of her wedding ceremony with her soon to be husband Tony J. Funk.Heather loved all kinds of animals from the time she was a child raising angora show rabbits, and a beloved pet was never far from her hand throughout her life.She is survived by her husband of 13 years, Tony Funk of Muncie; her mother, Dianne (Souther) Parish of Muncie; her brother, Eric Parish (Melisa); her nieces, Kyra and Anya; her nephew, Evan of Port Orchard, WA; her mother and father-in-law, Debbie Leach (Kenny); father-in-law, Tony L. Funk; sister-in-law, Lisa Lahey (Jeff); niece, Ashley Lahey; nephews, Camden, Landon, and Jacob Lahey; her dogs, Jack and Tippy and cats, Crazy, Beebee, Misseur, Zeus, Vinnie and Sphynx.She was preceded in death by her father, Rex Parish; grandparents, Franklin H. Souther, Jr., Phyllis Souther, Edward Shannon Parish and Martha Duncan Parish. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at High Street United Methodist Church, 219 S. High Street, with Reverend Dr. Dale Mendenhall officiating. Burial will follow in Union Eaton Cemetery.Friends may call at High Street Methodist Church, 219 S. High Street, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2017.
