Harvey J. Weister Obituary

Mar 14, 1938 - May 20, 2017

This obituary is administered by:
Weister, Harvey J.Harvey J. Weister, 79, Marshfield, passed away on the morning of Saturday, May 20, 2017 under the care of Ministry Hospice at House of the Dove in Marshfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at St. John's Catholic Church, Marshfield, where the visitation will be from 9:00 am until service time. Rev. Samuel Martin will officiate. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family. Harvey was born on March 13, 1938 in Marshfield, the son of Art and Rose (Regele) Weister. He was a member of the graduating class of Marshfield Columbus High School in 1956. After graduation, he began working with his father in Art Weister Construction, which became his lifelong career. Harvey was a skilled builder and had a great reputation for his attention to detail, never leaving a job until it met his expectation of perfection. Harvey, along with his father are perhaps best known for the 3 story house on the hill across from Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Harvey was a lifetime member of St. John's Catholic Church and held a strong sense of Faith throughout his life. He displayed that loving faith as he cared for his sick sister at home prior to her passing. He had served in the Wisconsin National Guard. Outside of his carpentry skills, Harvey enjoyed everything the outdoors had to offer. He was an avid hunter and fisherman (especially Musky hunting). He loved spending his weekends at the cabin he and his father built and was always on the lake or in the woods. This is where he taught this love of wildlife to his six nephews who he would take with him on weekends to show them the enjoyment of fishing and hunting with respect to the land. Harvey also enjoyed carving. He has a beautiful collection of everything from a totem pole to animals and plates he would carve from a piece of wood. He also enjoyed playing sheepshead and smear after a good day outside. He was always quick with a joke and had a wonderful sense of humor that will never be forgotten. He is lovingly survived by one sister, Maxine (Sylvester) Steines of Tripoli. He is further survived by his 6 nephews and their families whom he loved dearly, Kevin (Rhonda) Steines and their children, (Becky, Brad and Ryan), Eugene Steines and Dawn along with his daughter, (Bobbi), Paul Steines and Cheryl and his children, (Emily and Alex), Dean (Ann) Steines and their children, (Aaron, Claire and Greta), Doug (Michele) Steines and their children, (Haley and Sabryn) and Shawn (Kris) Steines. He was preceded in death by his parents Art and Rose (Regele) Weister and his sister, Patricia Weister. The family wishes to thank the staff at House of the Dove, DaVita Dialysis Center and Three Oaks Health Service for their kind and loving care. Memorials may be designated in Harvey's name to St. John's Catholic Church, Marshfield. Condolences may be sent online to www.rembsfh.com
