Nov 11, 1932 - Oct 12, 2017

This obituary is administered by:
Harry "Bud" HarbickHarry "Bud" Harbick, 84, passed away on October 12th, 2017, surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dona, of Silver Lake, OR; daughters Christy Palmer (David) of Oregon City, Janet Quinteros of Vancouver, WA, Shari Peterson (John) of Walterville, OR; and his son, Gary Harbick of Laughlin, NV. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Harbick (Debbie) in 2002, and son-in-law, Phillip Quinteros in 1986. In addition, he leaves behind ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren who loved him dearly. Harry was born on November 11, 1932 in Springfield, Oregon to Angus Harbick and Grace Lewis Harbick. He, along with his four brothers and one sister, grew up on the McKenzie River. After graduating from McKenzie High School in 1950, Harry joined the Navy as an electronics technician, serving during the Korean War. He was part of Helicopter Squadron One and was a saxophonist in the Navy Marching Band. Harry married Dona Payne on October 8, 1955 and they chose to remain on the river to work and raise their family. Harry was in the logging industry and was co-owner of Harbick & Waddell Logging. After selling the business, he transitioned to long-haul driving for a few years before retiring in 1981. Seeking Oregon's high desert air, they moved to Silver Lake in 1991. Harry was known for his quick-wit, spirited banter, and upbeat personality. His ability to create and problem-solve was extraordinary. People were drawn to him and would often find themselves sitting for hours listening to his many life stories. He cherished his family and friends and loved to spend all of his time with Dona. Together, they spent many winters in Arizona with extended family enjoying potlucks, games and traveling. Harry was a remarkable man and will be profoundly missed. His legacy of hard work, strong ethics and loyalty to family will be passed on through many generations. All who knew him were truly blessed. At Harry's request, no service is planned. There will be a family gathering sometime next summer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harry's favorite charity, .
