Harry Edward "Bud" Henderson Jr.Oak Ridge, TNHarry Edward "Bud" Henderson, Jr., age 69, of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2017, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. In recent years Bud struggled with heart and lung disease, but now his suffering is over. He has gone on to be in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, in whom he strongly trusted for forgiveness and salvation. Bud was born on August 13, 1948, in Ironton, Missouri, to Harry E. Henderson, Sr., and Marianne Tong Henderson. The family moved to Oak Ridge in 1952, where Bud graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1966. Bud served four years in the U. S. Air Force, including a year in Vietnam. He attended the University of Tennessee and worked as an Oak Ridge policeman. He began his career at the Y-12 Plant in 1976, where he worked for 37 years. During that time, he completed his Bachelor's degree through Tusculum University. Bud was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his son, Travis Henderson (Sherry) of Oak Ridge, Travis' mother, Lynda Marlar Henderson, of Oak Ridge, his sister, Gloria Woodall (Doug), of Claxton, his brother, Tom Henderson and family, of Killeen, Texas, three grandchildren, Thomas, Amrynn, and Jaxson Henderson, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. His childhood friend, David Gambrell, is like a member of the family. Bud enjoyed boating, camping, metal-detecting, travelling, weight-lifting, and "four-wheeling" at Windrock. He was a meticulous craftsman--scale model ships and cars, wooden toys, and home remodels were among his projects. He helped Travis build go-carts. He spent many hours studying the Bible and sharing his faith. A memorial service is planned for 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 2, at the Clinton Church of God, 635 Hillcrest Street, Clinton TN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Second Harvest Food Bank, or the Laurel Church of Christ (Knoxville) overseas missions fund.
