Harold Francis DruganNaples, FL Harold F. Drugan, "Hal" or "Punchy" Drugan, as he was affectionately known to his friends, age 90 of Naples, FL passed away Sunday, May 7th, 2017 at the VITAS Healthcare in Naples, FL. He was born on June 9th, 1926 in Milford, MA, son of the late Harold G. Drugan and Jeanette B. Oulette - Drugan. Harold moved from Providence R.I. to Framingham, MA at age 13 and graduated from Framingham High School, Class of "44", where he was an outstanding three sport athlete, football, basketball and baseball. Football was his passion, and he excelled as a two way starter, full back and middle linebacker, for the Framingham Flyers, H.S. (1943), 9 and 1, championship team his senior year. Upon graduating in 44, Harold enlisted in the Navy and served his country for two years during World War II. in the American Theater of Operations, Asia-Pacific Area. After receiving his honorable discharge from the Navy in June, 1946, he attended Champlain College, Utica, NY for two years, where he studied and played football. He later coached and played semi-pro football for the Framingham Town Team. On June 10th, 1950 Harold married the love of his life, Virginia May D'Arcangelo, of Gardner, MA and settled in Framingham, where he worked at the General Motors Assembly Plant, in various supervisory positions. Harold and Virginia raised three children, Stephen, Jean, and Harold V. Harold retired from General Motors in 1986 and moved to Naples, Fl, where he enjoyed 31 wonderful years of retirement. Above all, Harold was a "family man" and a loving and devoted husband, dad and grandfather to his children and seven grand children. His beloved grand children were his pride and joy! During his retirement in Naples, Harold and Virginia enjoyed cruises and traveling with friends overseas to Europe, The Mediterranean, Ireland, Hawaii, and to the numerous Navy ship reunion parties held in cities across the country. They developed many close and lasting friendships with their neighbors and other retirees they met while in Naples, FL. Harold was an avid and accomplished golfer, a 7 handicap at his peak, with three hole in one's to his credit (two at Hibiscus Country Club, Naples, FL, where he was a member for many years)! He was a life long member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Virginia Drugan; sister, Jean Moore, daughter, Jean Mitchell, sons, Stephen Drugan and his wife Elaine, Harold Drugan and his wife Joann; seven grand children, Gregory Drugan, Kyle Drugan, Kevin Mitchell, Nicole Mitchell, Lauren Mitchell, Anthony Drugan and Brendon Drugan, along with many nieces, nephews and a large extended family. Harold was predeceased by his parents and his younger brother, Joseph. Visitation will be Thursday, May 11th, 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM, at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens, 525 111th Ave. N., Naples, FL. Funeral Mass will be at St. Peters the Apostle Catholic Church, 5130 Rattlesnake Hammock Rd, Naples, FL, Friday, May 12, 10:00 AM. Internment will be at 2:00 PM at the Naples Memorial Gardens.
