Harold Eugene Burgess, age 78, of Tawas City passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Lakeview Manor Nursing Home in Tawas City. He was born on March 16, 1934 to Frank and Minnie Burgess in Brant where he grew up on the family farm. Harold married Jane Marie Minns on July 20, 1956 and together they shared 55 years of marriage. Harold retired in 1985 from Chevrolet Manufacturing in Flint. Upon retirement Harold and Jane moved to Tawas City and wintered in Mission, Texas. Harold loved people and never met a stranger. He was a member of Tawas United Methodist Church. Harold enjoyed spending his time golfing, hunting, fishing, watching Tiger baseball and spending time with his family and friends. Surviving besides his wife, Jane, is his beloved family; daughter, Shelly, and her husband, Scott Graham; his son, Frank, and his wife, Jacqui Burgess; grandchildren, Katie (Brandon) Swidorski, Michael (Sarah) Graham and Justine Burgess; great grandchildren, Alexis and Leah Graham and Matthew Harold Swidorski; his sister, Catherine (Don) Flegel; brother, Robert (Vera) Burgess; and his brother-in-law, Thomas (Suzanne) Minns. Harold was preceded in death by his grandson, Frank E. Burgess Jr.; his parents, Frank and Minnie Burgess; and brothers, James and Lyle Burgess. A celebration of Harold's life will be held on Saturday, July 14 at Tawas United Methodist Church in Tawas City. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m..
