Harland H. Kuchenbecker, age 77, of Brillion, died on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Calumet Medical Center in Chilton. He was born on December 1, 1938 in Brillion, son of the late Hilmer and Myra (Schultz) Kuchenbecker. Harland was a graduate of Brillion High School class of 1956. Three days after graduation he went to work at the Brillion Iron Works. In 1957 he enlisted in the U.S. Army. After basic training, Harland served for 2 ½ years in Schwabisch Gmund, Germany and was honorably discharged in 1960 and proceeded to serve in the U.S. Army reserves for another 3 years. On August 18, 1962 he married Lillian Behnke in Brillion. He worked at the Brillion Iron Works for 38 years until retiring. He then worked at Atwater General Corp. in Menomonee Falls, working for a total of over 60 years in the foundry business. Harland was an active member of Peace United Church of Christ in Brillion, where he served as president and on various committees including the Buildings and Grounds Committee which he served on for many years. He was also a member of the Becker Bloedorn Jensen American Legion Post #126 of Brillion and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 18. Survivors include his wife Lillian, a son Todd (Angie) Kuchenbecker of Brillion, 3 granddaughters, Lauren, Ella and Ava, a sister Betty Steltzner of San Diego, CA, 3 brothers, Daniel (Cheryl) Kuchenbecker and Ronald (Sandra) Kuchenbecker all of Brillion, Louis Kuchenbecker (Diane Jenquin) of Greenleaf, a sister-in-law Sandra Kuchenbecker of Brillion and many nieces, nephews and friends. Harland was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Ervin and Blanche Behnke, a brother Norbert, an infant sister and brother-in-law Chauncey "Jerry" Steltzner. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 4, 2016 at Peace United Church of Christ in Brillion. The Rev. Roger Mealiff will officiate. Burial will be in Brillion Community Cemetery were Military Rites will be accorded by the Brillion American Legion Post 126. A visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 8:30 am to 10:45 am. Online condolences may be made at www.wieting-funeralhome.com
