Gwendolyn Y. LaddGwendolyn Yvonne Ladd died on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Green-Hill Manor in Fowler, Indiana. She was born on June 28, 1924 to the late Rollin and Edna (Fell) Hay in Shelbyville, Indiana. She graduated in 1942 from Oxford High School. In December 1943 she was married to Hugh Wood, of Bloomingdale, Indiana. Hugh was killed in March 1945 while serving in Belgium during World War II. On November 2, 1945 Gwendolyn married her late husband Glenn T. (Cricket) Ladd in Oxford, Indiana, where they raised their family for many years before moving to Texas in 1974. They returned to Oxford in 1998. Gwendolyn was a member of the Oxford United Methodist Church, the
VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Oxford, and Oak Grove Country Club. She was an avid golfer and a league champion of the Women's Club. She also taught tap dancing and was a leader in the local Homemaker Club. Gwendolyn is survived by four children: Dennis (wife: Rena) Wood, of Lafayette, IN, Tom (wife: Sharon) Ladd, of Otterbein, IN, David (wife: Angela) Ladd, of Mount Herman, LA, and Sarah (husband: David) Floyd, of Oxford, IN. Gwendolyn is also survived by three siblings: Nancy (husband: Bud) Cordes, of Lafayette, IN, Barbara (husband: Dick) Atha, of Lafayette, IN, and Nycha Senesac, of Oxford, IN. Additionally, she is survived by eight grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and fifteen step-great grandchildren. Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband (Cricket), three brothers: Ronnie, Jack, and Dan Hay, and a sister, Rose (Hay) Edmonds. A memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of memorial service at 11:30 am, Friday, December 9, 2016 at the United Methodist Church in Oxford, IN (215 S. Howard St., Oxford, IN 47971), officiated by Pastor Linda Sproull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to the Oxford United Methodist Church.
