Gertrude M. Best, formerly of Columbia SC, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 17, 2019, in Greensboro, NC. Born in Columbia South Carolina, Mrs. Best was the daughter of the late Leonza Jr. and Katie Martin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Walter Lee Best III. She and her husband of over 50 loving and inseparable years, lived in Greensboro for over 47 years. Mrs.Best worked for Kindred hospital of Greensboro for many years  and retired as Chief custodian. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist church of Greensboro. In addition she is survived by immediate family members: son, Ronald P Best  (Betty), grandaughters ; Tempesttes Houston, of Spartanburg and Tamara Best of Charlotte; grandsons; Ronnie P. Best of Rock Hill and Brandon Byers of Chester. Gertrude was a loving caring devoted Wife, mother, daughter, sister and an exceptional friend to many others; she will truly be missed.
