DEFIANCE, Ohio — Geraldine Knoll (Dean) died peacefully in Lutheran Hospital on Sunday November 27, 2016 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, at the age of 72 with family at her bedside. Dean was born on April 26, 1944 in Defiance, Ohio. She graduated from Fairview High School in 1961 and Northwest State in 1994 with a degree in nursing. Dean worked as a nurse at Defiance Regional Hospital in the emergency and oncology departments. Dean enjoyed spending time with her family and friends during summers in Indiana and winters in Florida. Dean is survived by her husband of 54 years, James W. Knoll; son Brent (Kylan), grandchildren Katie, Hunter, Emme, Hallie and great-grandchildren Michael, Gabriella, Brayden Dean Knoll of Nashville, Tennessee; son Brandon (Brianna), grandchildren Keiden, Konnor and Hanna Knoll of Angola, Indiana; son Josh (Rachael), grandchildren Grant, Jackson, and Shafer Knoll of Pittsboro, North Carolina; sister Marie Culler of Defiance, Ohio; brother Marion Youngker of Bryan, Ohio; and brother Don Youngker of Bryan, Ohio. She is preceded in death by father Francis and mother, Ella Youngker of Defiance, Ohio. Visitation is scheduled for today from 2-8 p.m. at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home, 1753 S. Clinton St., Defiance, Ohio. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 1, at 11 a.m. at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dean's life.
