Geraldine K Taplin , beloved daughter of the late Esscence J. Knight and JayTee Henry Knight , was born in Los Angeles , California on August 1, 1935.
She received her formal education in the public schools of Centennial High School , including H. T. Singleton High School.
During the early years of her life, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with the Union Baptist Church of California. In later years, became a member of St. Maryland Baptist Church in San Diego , California where she was a faithful member who diligently served the Lord with gladness.
While yet a young woman, Geraldine met and married JayTee Knight . Their union was blessed with a large family that was taught to love the Lord, to be humble and respectful, and to stick together through the trials and triumphs of life. Domestic at heart, she was a devoted wife and mother who ate not the bread of idleness; rather, she worked tirelessly to care for the needs and well-being of her family.
Geri , as she was affectionately called, lived a life of kindness and compassion tempered with a loving spirit. The joys of her life were her family and friends whom she loved dearly and delighted in spending time with them. She was a selfless person who saw the beauty in all things, accepted everyone for who they were, and openly welcomed them into her heart and home. You couldn’t know her without being inspired by her love and devotion to her family, friends, church, and community. Although Geri resided in Los Angeles , CA and San Diego , CA for a period of time; eventually the newly weds decided to start a life in Bryan, Texas . Eventually Bryan became “HOME” and the friends she made during her years there were all very dear to her heart. She will long be remembered for her smile, strength, and loving spirit.
