Gerald "Jerry" W. Brandt, age 64, of Clark St., in Brookville, Pa., passed away in the presence of his loving family, on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016. Jerry was born on Aug. 12, 1952, to the late Raymond and Marjorie (Laster) Brandt, in Cuero, Texas. On Oct. 16, 1980, he married Lisa Ann (Ponchel) Brandt in Brookville, Pa. After his time spent in school, Jerry went off to work in the carnival circuits. He loved the work that different carnivals provided for him and he had the opportunity to work for many different outfits. This lifestyle gave him the opportunity to travel the country and see the many beautiful places throughout the states. In 1976 he suffered a work-related accident which prohibited him from being able to perform the demands of his job for a few years. After he married Lisa in 1980, she became fond of his work and together they were able to travel and work the carnival circuits as a couple. As they built their life with each other, he eventually became licensed to inspect amusement park rides in Pennsylvania. Later in the 80's, he picked up driving truck and performing mechanical work; this turned into him earning his license as an inspection mechanic for Pennsylvania. Life moved forward and they eventually found themselves inheriting the Brookview Colony Homes in Brookville, Pa.; they have been managing Brookview since then. Most people would know Jerry for his job delivering newspapers with Lisa; they worked this job for over 15 years. He loved all of his pets and he enjoyed listening to country music; he was a big fan of the local band, Country Pride. Jerry was a gentle giant with more compassion in his heart than could be shared in a lifetime. He was always more concerned about the welfare of others before himself. When he was going through his most painful and debilitating days, he never complained, and he loved life all the way through. Jerry is already missed. In addition to his wife Lisa, he is survived by Jason Fleming, who is the closest example that Jerry and Lisa have to having a son; one brother, Kenneth Brandt of Texas; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Family and friends will be received on Friday, Nov. 4, 2016, from 3–6 p.m. at the McKinney–d'Argy Funeral Home, ltd, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral service will immediately follow the viewing at the funeral home, beginning at 6 p.m. Interment will take place at the Mount Tabor Cemetery in Eldred Twp., Jefferson Co., Pa. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Willow Run Sanctuary and Adoptions, 381 E.
