George Smith, Jr.PEORIA - George Smith Jr., 66, of Peoria, IL, passed away at 5:08 pm on Saturday, October 29, 2016. George, affectionately known as Junior, was born on January 5, 1950, in Chicago, IL, to George Smith Sr. and Rosie Lee (McDonald) Kimbrough. Junior was a U.S. Army veteran. Junior is survived by two sons, LaMar Smith and Brandon (Lloytisha) Griffin; five daughters, Angela Smith, Tracy Mays, Nicole Smith, Michelle Smith and Amber Smith; three brothers, Charles Smith, Ronnie Smith and William Malone; seven sisters, Dorothy (Omer) Moore, LeJune Kimbrough, Arnita Smith, Brenda (Larry) Patterson, Tonet Jones, Evet Malone, and Deanna Malone;19 grandchildren and one great-grandson. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Church of the Living God, Temple 130, with a visitation one hour prio,r beginning at 10 am. Vice Chief Bishop Leroy Smith will officiate. Junior will be laid to rest at Lutheran Cemetery where U.S. Army Military Honors will be rendered. Family and friends will be received at 710 W. Nowland Ave., Peoria. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements.
