George Elwood Venson, 72 transition after an extended illness on January 6, 2021. He was born on July 3, 1948 in Greenwood, South Carolina to Elwood and Julia Mae Venson. He joined the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. George was a longtime resident of Detroit, Michigan. He was a dedicated worker for the City of Detroit Water Department for over 25 years. George loved watching sports, Western movies and spending time with family and friends.

George leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Candace Jordan; one sister, Letha Tate; one brother, Joseph Venson; five nephews, Douglas Tate, Welven Tate, Rodney Tate, Dajuan Love and Joseph Venson, Jr.; two nieces, Renada Tate and Clylethia Tate; 2 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and a host of great (great) nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Elwood and Julia Mae Venson.
