George Arthur SingletonClinton, TNGeorge Arthur Singleton, age 90, of Clinton, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2016, at the Methodist Medical Center. He was born on March 9, 1926, in Clinton, Tennessee to the late Arthur and Birdie Jones Singleton. George was a veteran, having served in the United States Army during WWII. He retired from the City of Oak Ridge, after working there for over 40 years. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his wife, Margie Singleton; sons, G.A. Singleton and Scotty Singleton; brothers and sisters.Survived by his sons, Richard Singleton and Tim Singleton; daughter, Carolyn Duncan and husband Thomas; sisters, Otella Freeman, Virginia Niota Rogers; grandchildren, Melanie Crowley, Josh Singleton, Elijah Duncan, Nicholas Duncan, Lori Duncan, Amanda Duncan; great-grandchildren, Kegan, Chase and Kobie Crowley, Bryson and Brent Singleton, Darium Steen, Amelia Duncan.The family will receive friends at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home, in Clinton, on Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 PM, with the funeral service to follow at 8:00 PM, with the Rev. David Crowley officiating. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home on Friday, November 18, 2016 at 10:30 AM, and go in funeral procession to the Anderson Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 AM interment.
