Rev. Gene Edwin Grubb of Fleetwood died on Friday, July 11, 2014, at Ashe Memorial Hospital in Jefferson. He was 73.

Rev. Grubb was born on Jan. 5, 1941, in Fleetwood to the late Lloyd and Ola Houck Grubb.

Rev. Grubb enjoyed going to auctions, collecting and fishing. He served as a Methodist minister in Ashe and Alleghany Counties for 15 years before he retired.

Rev. Grubb is survived by son, Michael Grubb of Fleetwood; daughter, Miranda Sluder of Foscoe; two brothers, Gwyn Grubb and George Grubb, both of West Jefferson; three sisters, Gloria Walters of Mountain City, Tennessee, Glenda Binkley of Clemmons, and Gelene Ham of Todd; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, July 13, 2014, at the Zion United Methodist Church by Rev. Evan Moore. Burial followed in the Bethany Cemetery.

The family received friends on Sunday, July 13, 2014, at Zion United Methodist Church.

Flowers were appreciated, or memorials may be made to the Bethany Cemetery Fund.
