Wilde, GaryGary Ladd Wilde, age 73, of De Pere, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017, at home. Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25th, at the Seventh-day Adventist Church at 1414 Shawano Ave., with Pastor William Ochs and Pastor Rick Binford officiating. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. and will continue until the time of service. Gary was born on April 19, 1944 in Appleton, and was blessed to become the adopted son of Victor and Bernice Wilde of Green Bay in 1956. Gary, a graduate of Wisconsin Academy in 1963, married Gloria Carlson on July 3, 1966, and together they celebrated 51 years of marriage earlier this year. The couple resided in the Green Bay area for many years but also lived for 22 years in the rural Crivitz area where they retired, before their recent move to east De Pere in 2016.The majority of Gary's working career was spent as an over-the-road semi driver, where he was known for helping the "down and out" people that he met during his coast-to-coast travels. In fact, Gary was involved in helping a man with a disabled vehicle beside the road, when he suffered his first stroke in 2006, which caused the immediate end of his trucking career. Gary drove for various trucking companies throughout his 30-plus years of driving, finishing his career with Chizek Transport in Cleveland, WI, where he earned several "Driver-of-the-Month" awards during his employment there.Gary loved the cars of the 50's and 60's and especially enjoyed the several convertibles that he owned over the years, his favorite pastime being to keep them waxed and shining! Another favorite weekend hobby was making firewood during the years when he lived in the Crivitz area and owned a fireplace.Gary is survived by his wife, Gloria; his daughter, Carmen (Rob) Magray, and his son, Richard (Micky) Wilde, his three grandchildren, Mason Wilde, Maria Magray, and Carter Wilde. He is further survived by his nephew, Scot Gustafson, and his niece, Sonja Podjan of Michigan, plus many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Bernice Wilde, and his sister, Lorrie Hanson.Special appreciation is extended to his extended family and friends for all of their loving support throughout his eleven years of disability. Also remembered are the many encouraging pastoral visits of Pastor Bill Ochs and Pastor Rick Binford, and the compassionate care of the Unity Hospice team of Green Bay.Gary's great sense of humor and his creative story-telling abilities will be greatly missed!
