Pastor Gary T. Thaler Pastor Gary Thomas Thaler, beloved husband of Cynthia Jo (nee: Oblak), passed away May 5, 2015, at age 67. He was surrounded by family and friends. Gary was born on December 31, 1947, in Wagner, South Dakota, to Adolph and Jean Thaler. Gary served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. Gary, a longtime building contractor, became a pastor later in life and founded Christian Faith Church in Kenosha, Wisconsin. As a hospital chaplain in the Kenosha hospital network, Gary brought his unique blend of straightforward truth-telling, humor and mercy to many. Gary’s ministry and generous nature embraced all who knew him. A rummage sale aficionado, a tinkerer, a fisherman, a gardener—Gary was all of these, but treasured most his role as husband, brother, father, and, especially, grandfather. Besides his wife, Cindy, he is survived by children Ann (Jason) Aberson, Jennifer Thaler, Jay Thaler; grandchildren Amelia Atkins, Ellie Atkins, Alex Haagenson, Josiah Aberson, Rachel Aberson, Joseph Thaler, Serena Thaler; and sisters Alice (Gary) Doty and Betty Lou (Raymond) Cihak. Visitation is this Saturday May 9, 2015 from 1:00-3:00 PM followed by a memorial service from 3:00-4:00 PM at Kenosha Funeral Services, 8226 Sheridan Road, Kenosha, Wisconsin.
