Gary Lee Meraz (56) of Las Cruces, NM passed away surrounded by his family and loved ones on October 28th, 2016. Gary was born on June 13th, 1960 to Elias T. and Sylvia (Balencia) Meraz. He was a Las Cruces High School graduate and shortly after joined the United States Air Force. He served as an Aircraft Electrical Systems Specialist from 1979-1983. He later went on to work at Lockheed Martin as a Systems Engineer for 15 years. Gary's love for sports and his community led to him spending his free time coaching little league baseball and eventually to spending numerous years coaching a very successful girls youth club soccer team who won the State Championship in 2000, The Las Cruces Express. Gary was very proud of his time spent in the Air Force and received numerous awards during his time of service. His family is honoring his wishes with Military Honors and a memorial service at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery on October 6th, 2017 at 2:30pm.Gary is survived by his parents Elisa and Sylvia, his two brothers Mario Meraz (wife Susan Roberts) and Elias Meraz Junior, of Las Cruces, NM, His two children, daughter Amanda (husband Patrick Hanlon) of Chicago, IL and his son Nicholas Vincent Meraz (wife Aracely) of Los Angeles, CA.Gary was greatly loved and now will be greatly missed.
