"Once a Driller, Always a Driller" Gary Van Horne was born on September 16, 1967, in Bakersfield, CA, to Richard and Dolores Van Horne. Gary passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Monday, November 28, 2016. He was a baseball enthusiast from an early age. He was an avid Los Angeles Dodger and Fresno Grizzlies fan, and was also an assistant coach at Bakersfield High School. Gary was a devoted husband, father, son and brother. He enjoyed golfing and country music. He was employed as a teacher's aide for Kern High School District working with disabled adults. Gary is survived by his wife, Patricia Quintana-Van Horne M.D. of Clovis, CA; their children, Liliana and Lucas; and his parents, Richard and Dolores Van Horne of Bakersfield, CA. He also leaves behind his sister, Valerie Van Horne Purcell; and his brother, Rick Van Horne, both of Bakersfield, CA. He also leaves behind a loving extended family, including nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held at Boice Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. Remembrances may be sent to Camp Kesem at Fresno State, 5280 N.
