Friend A. "Tony" BennettApril 15, 1936 - March 18, 2017Red LionFriend A. "Tony" Bennett, passed away on March 18, 2017 at home. He was the husband of the late Bertha Medrano Bennett.He was born on April 15, 1936 in Pittsburgh, the son of the late Margaret Moore Bennett of Pittsburgh, and Pasquale Bruzzese of Reggio Calabria, Italy. He graduated from Chaffey High School in Ontario, CA. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He married Bertha Medrano in San Antonio, TX and had four sons. His career took him from Texas to California and Oregon, eventually settling into Red Lion, where he raised his family. He had a successful career as a business executive for Yorktowne Cabinets and Diamond Industries. He also started his own successful building supply company and worked for Wissler Motors before retirement. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed his Pittsburgh teams. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family, being outdoors, landscaping, gardening and spending time with his pets. He was a loving brother, father, grandfather and caring friend to many.The Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 24, 2017 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 251 E. Main St, Dallastown, with the Rev. John McCloskey, OFM Cap. as celebrant. Viewings will be one hour prior to Mass at the church and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 902 Mt. Rose Ave., York. Burial with full military rites presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery.Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by his wife of over 40 years, Bertha Medrano Bennett, of San Antonio, TX in 1995; and son, Patrick Bennett in 1996. He is survived by son, Anthony "Tony" Bennett and wife, Karen of Hanover with grandsons, Joseph and Joshua, son, William Bennett and wife, Robin of Red Lion with granddaughters, Kailyn, Carly and grandson, Ryan, son, Albert Bennett of Red Lion, his caretaker with whom he has resided with since 1999; two half-brothers, Richard Kaiser of Yucaipa, CA and Raymond Kaiser of Temecula, CA; and sister-in-law, Mercedes Fonseca of San Antonio, TX. Preceding him in death were half-brothers, Robert and William Bennett of California; and half-sister, Josephine Bennett Quillen of Shreveport, LA.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lebanon VA Medical Center, 1700 S.
