Fred Wright Jr. was born on June 15, 1937, to Fred Wright Sr. and Eddie Wright in Birmingham, Alabama. As a child, he moved to Michigan, where he lived until graduating from Inkster High School.
Fred enrolled in the United States Army and trained as an equipment mechanic at Fort Belvoir in Fairfax County, Virginia. He was assigned to the 94th Engineer Construction Battalion and was stationed in Germany and France, where he contributed to post-war reconstruction efforts. Fred was honorably discharged in 1959. He went on to apply his mechanical engineering training to a civilian career at Ametek Lamb Electric, until retiring in 1997.
While residing in Ravenna, Ohio, Fred became the proud father of Todd and Angela Wright. He later met his wife Gloria, and the two cherished and cared for one another for more than 35 years. Fred was an active member of his community, serving as a deacon of Community Baptist Church, a Mason, and a member of the Ravenna Men’s Civic Club. Fred was also an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and Cavaliers, a road trip enthusiast, and had a fondness for electronics, and learning how to operate them.
Fred leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy Wright. He is survived by his children, Todd (Julianne) Wright, Melvin (Joyce) Lusane, Edna “Candy” (Clinton deceased) Brooks, Darrell (Robin), Daphne and a host of grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
