Frances A. Spofford1926 - 2016Our mother and friend, Frances A. Spofford, age 90, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2016. The fourth of five children, Fran was born on March 24, 1926 in Boise, Idaho to Clarence and Naomi Adams.Fran met Thomas A. Spofford at the University of Idaho and they were married in Boise on June 15, 1947. Tom and Fran had a successful and happy life raising their four children in numerous locations in Idaho through his career with Idaho Power.Fran enjoyed a very full and satisfying life. She had a wide and eclectic circle of friends with whom she shared many interests. She was a member of Chapter H of P.E.O. for over 50 years. She was also a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, Qwesters, Assistance League, and Hillcrest Country Club. Her favorite activities included her friends from Boise's Central Grade School (The Butterflys) and her many lunches with the Boise High School group.Fran traveled the world enjoying the different cultures she encountered. Additionally, she enjoyed her friends, siblings, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She spent every Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter as well as various summer and fall breaks with members of her immediate family. Most of all, she enjoyed life! Her presence, smile, and laugh were enjoyed by many and will be missed.Fran is survived by her children: Tom (Sharon) Spofford of Ephrata, Washington; Bill (Nancy) Spofford of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Susan (Art) Berry of Boise; and Peggy Spofford of Boise; numerous grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren; and several wonderful nieces and nephews.Fran was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. Spofford in 1998; her parents; her siblings, Elizabeth Waldrop, Dr. William Adams, Nat Adams, and Evelyn Fahrenwald.A Celebration of Fran's Life will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, April 10, 2016 at the Cathedral of the Rockies, Cana Chapel, with a reception immediately following.The family wishes to extend special and heartfelt thanks to Emerson House, and all the wonderful people with the Harrison's Hope Hospice program for their love, time and care to our mom.
