Floyd L. Bland, Jr.Port HuronFloyd L. Bland, Jr., 84, of Port Huron, went to Heaven on March 12, 2017.He was born on September 5, 1932 in Fort Gratiot Twp., son of the late Floyd and Dayse Bland.Floyd married Joyce P. Freiger on March 24, 1953 in Port Huron. She passed away on December 7, 2016.He served honorably in the United States Army. Floyd retired from the United States Postal Service. He was a life member of the Port Huron Power Squadron and enjoyed working at the city marina. Floyd enjoyed boating, painting and spending time with his family and pets.Floyd is survived by his children: Michael Bland of Fort Gratiot; Teri (Patrick) Paton of Port Huron; Jane Bland of Denver, CO and Sheila Bland of Port Huron; three grandchildren: Christopher, Jamie and Cody; sister, Linda (John) DeWitt of South Carolina and several nieces, nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Wacker.Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday in St. John's United Church of Christ, 710 Pine Street, Port Huron. The Rev. Dr. Richard Hotchkin will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.Visiting hours will be held Wednesday 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in the Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave., Port Huron and Thursday 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the church.Pallbearers will be Michael Bland, Teri Paton, Patrick Paton, Jane Bland, Sheila Bland, Linda DeWitt, Chris Bland, Jamie Bland, Cody Bland and Beth Wojcik.Memorial tributes may be made to a veteran's organization of the donor's choice.To view obituary and share memories visit www.jowettfuneraldirectors.com
