Elmer, Floyd A.Floyd A. Elmer, age 78, of Neenah passed away on Thursday morning, November 10, 2016 at Theda Clark Medical Center, his family at his side. He was born on August 5, 1938 in Neenah, son of the late Albert A. and Rose V. (Mielke) Elmer. After high school Floyd proudly served his country with the U.S. Army National Guard and the Army Reserves. On September 28, 1955 he married Marion D. Dorn and she preceded him in death on November 11, 2005. Floyd was a pressman for Banta for 45 years, retiring in 2001. Floyd Elmer and His Orchestra was a very popular band in the Fox Valley. He was dubbed the "Polka King of the Valley" and was truly passionate about his music. When he wasn't playing the accordion, Floyd loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was a charming and very responsible man. Above all, he was truly proud of all of his children.He will be sadly missed by his children: Don (Peggy) Elmer, Winchester; Brian (Denise) Elmer, Neenah; Gary (sp. friend Jan Edmunds) Elmer, Winchester; Debbie (Marvin) Johnson, Neenah; Diana (Steve) Volkman, Neenah; Sue (sp. friend Darrel Lafferty Jr.) Lauterbach, Neenah; grandchildren: Shannon Elmer, Chad Elmer, Stephanie (Kyle) Krueger, Mike Elmer, DeWayne Klenke, Brian Klenke, Dale (Jenna) Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Dessiree Johnson, Derek (Stacy) Volkman; Gina Volkman; 21 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Don Elmer, Omro; a sister, Linda (Bill) Greetan, Neenah; nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife, Floyd was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Abigail Klenke.A brief Funeral Service for Floyd will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the hour of service. Entombment will be in the Veterans' Garden of Valor Mausoleum at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
