Flora Mary Ella Tharp (Flo) went into her Lords arms while in her home in Las Cruces, New Mexico on 03/23/2017 with her caregiver and adopted daughter Margaret Malone at her side. She had reached the age of 99-1/2 (wow!)Flora is survived by her youngest sister Gertrude (Gertie) Snyman of Mimbres, NM. She is preceded in death by her two older brothers William (Bill) Davidson & John Davidson, and by her younger sister Edith Weaver. She is also preceded in death by Harold F. Loy (her former husband for over 60 years and father of their children). She is also preceded in death by her last husband Wm Claude Tharp of Las Cruces, New Mexico. Flora is further survived by many nieces and nephews, and stepchildren; William C. and Sible Tharp, Charles R. and Linda Tharp, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Claudia J. And Joe Keith, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and many step grandchildren and step greatgrandchildren as well.Flora married Harold Loy and had a farm in Oklahoma. They both faced the tragic deaths of their two young children Mary Ella and Robert Frank Loy. To fill that loss, Flora and Harold happily became foster parents to a family of 7 orphaned children, and then went on to become house parents for the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home in El Paso, Texas and Monroe, Louisiana parenting hundreds of children throughout their lives.Flora was born on 08/17/1917 in Medicine Park, Oklahoma to Robert F. Davidson and Sarah F. Burleson. Flora dedicated her studies under well-known artists for 33 years. She painted oil landscapes, still-life, and watercolors, and China paintings, and acrylics while residing in Monroe, Louisiana. Collections of her paintings are in various locations - such as Switzerland, Louisiana, California, Oregon, Alaska, Texas, New Mexico and other states. She also had private showings during her career as an artist. She was a member of Las Cruces Arts & Crafts, Black Range Artists Inc., Porcelain Art Association. She once was also the Treasurer of the Pen Women group, and her last employment was manager of the Hospitality House in Las Cruces, NM.Flora was very influential in extending her love and friendship to everyone she met. She enjoyed being a "grandparent" and source of kind-heartedness to every child / person she came in contact with during her long life. Flora left a huge imprint with the impact of her humorous and giving personality.A Memorial is scheduled for 1:30pm on 04/01/2017 at Getz Funeral Chapel / Home located at 1400 E Bowman Avenue, Las Cruces, New Mexico 88001.
