AVILLA — Evelyn V. Rowe, 84, of Avilla died Monday, Dec. 29, 2014, at her home. She had lived most of her life in LaGrange County and had moved to Noble County in August 2000. Mrs. Rowe worked in the office at the former Duo-Therm in LaGrange from 1961 until her retirement in 1994. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in LaGrange. She was born on April 27, 1930, in LaGrange County to Maynard and Gwendellyn (Smith) Spidel. She married Glenn L. Rowe on May 29, 1949, in South Milford and he survives in Avilla. Also surviving are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Barbara and Larry Gitt of Polk City, Florida, Linda and Jim Hooley of Kendallville, and Rebecca Rowe of LaGrange; a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Larry D. and Gerri Rowe of Fort Wayne; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Carolyn and Ralph Knott of Haines City, Florida, and Joy Krug of Kendallville; and a brother, Ted Spidel of Kendallville. Her parents, and two brothers, Charles and Carroll Spidel, preceded her in death. Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 209 W. Spring St., LaGrange, with the Rev. Chris Danielson officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in LaGrange. Visitation will be Saturday, from 2-6 p.m. at the Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 W.
