LAUREL HILL — Evelyn "Janice" Norton Cooper, 65, passed away on Nov. 11, 2013 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 14, 2013 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in Hillside Memorial Park. The Rev. Ricky Jacobs will officiate the service.

Janice was born on July 9, 1948 in Marlboro County, S.C., a daughter to the late Walker and Alice Phillips Norton. She was a nurse, retiring from Kingswood Nursing Center after many years of service. She attended Peele's Chapel Wesleyan Church and enjoyed making crafts and painting.

She was also preceded in death by her brother Thurman Norton and sisters Helen Blue and Carolyn Diehell.

Janice is survived by her son Vernon "Scott" Norton of Laurel Hill, brother Bobby Norton of Gastonia, sisters Peggy "Joyce" Early of Raeford and Dorothy Woodard of Laurel Hill, her grandchildren Ashley Norton and Marissa Norton, and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Nov. 13, 2013 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
