Evelyn MeriwetherJackson, TNEvelyn Meriwether, age 88, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2017.A service celebrating her life will be held on Sat. January 28 at 2:00 p.m. at Andrews Chapel Methodist Church. The Reverend Lisa Harper will officiate. The family will receive visitors at 1:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Evelyn was born on July 30, 1928 to parents Rada and Elmer Johnston. She grew up in the Harts Bridge community. After high school, she attended West Tennessee Business College. She worked in the accounting office at Consolidated Aluminum Corporation for many years. She married J.H. Meriwether in 1952. Evelyn Meriwether loved life and always maintained a fun-loving, cheerful attitude. She lived her life displaying many Fruits of the Spirit including the following: love, joy, and peace, as well as gratefulness and generosity. She loved God, her family, and her many close friends. Her favorite activities included playing bridge, laughing and visiting, reading, and shopping.In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jennie Cooper and her brother Phillip Johnston.Survivors include her children Melissa Moore and husband W. Hamilton, her son Dr. John Meriwether and wife Joy, and grandchildren Caleb (Whitney) Meriwether, Dr. Laurel (Dr. Jake) Bateman, Hunter (Lauren) Meriwether, Hamilton Moore, and Chloe Meriwether, and great-grand child, Henning Meriwether. Her surviving siblings and their spouses are Martha (Lee) Brewer, Hershel (Nan) Johnston, and Sue (Pat) Ryan.
