Evelyn GillitBAIRD, TXEvelyn Gillit, age 85, peacefully passed from this life, with her son and grandson at her bedside, on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at her residence in Baird, TX. She was born on March 8, 1931 in Harlingen, TX to William Ingram and Irma (Nettles) Ingram. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Baird. Evelyn was a woman of faith and had a heart of gold. She married Carrol Gillit on July 27, 1951 in Baird, TX. She was hard working and stayed active all her life. She worked at the First National Bank in Baird, for LC Cash at Callahan County Courthouse, owned and operated McElroy's Dry Goods and took care of the cattle at the family farm until she was unable. She was a resident of Baird since 1968 and was formerly of Andrews where she had spent 15 years in West Texas. Evelyn was a great cook, loved her animals and cherished her family above all else. She will be missed dearly.She is survived by one daughter: Donna McAdams and husband Royce of Baird, TX; one son: Dana Gillit of Odessa, TX; grandchildren: Danya Logue of Austin, TX, Macie Kennedy of Denison, TX, Keegan Konigsmark and Kolby Konigsmark, both of Baird, TX, Corey McAdams of China Spring,TX and Rocky McAdams of Abilene, TX: and 6 great-grandchildren: Parker and Barett Logue, Elijah and Ellie Kennedy and Brinley and Cason McAdams.She is preceded in death by her beloved husband: Carrol Gillit, daughter: Judy Konigsmark and 7 brothers: Harold, Gene, Luther, Frank, Billy, Johnny and Tommy.Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 am, Monday, December 26, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Baird, TX with Pastor Mark Hewitt officiating. Interment will follow at Ross Cemetery Spencer-Price Addition. Arrangements are entrusted to Parker Funeral Home in Baird.
