Evalle E. ChurchDeWittMarch 12, 1935 - January 2, 2017Passed away peacefully at 81 years old with loving family by her side.  Evalle was born on March 12, 1935 in Lansing, MI to Virgil and Mildred (McCune) Sample.  She is survived by sons, Steven (Jane) and Michael (Tammie) and daughter, Karen (Joan Walker); 6 grandchildren, Emily Bourne, Brittany (Corey) Smith, Steve (Makel) Church, Amanda (Chris) Bates, Michelle (Chris) Salazar, Brooke Church); 9 great grandchildren; brothers, Gene and Lyle Sample; sister, Vivian Graham; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by husband, Clayton B.; son, Clayton A.; daughter, Sharon E. Church; sister, June Minier; and her parents. Evalle played a special role in the early lives of her grandchildren by providing day care.  This led to close and special relationships with each of them.  They adored her and grieve her passing.  As a member of the Holt Seventh Day Adventist Church, Evalle held a deep love of God and believed Jesus Christ was her Lord and savior.  She was a member of the Thursday Lunch Bunch, a group of high school friends that would get together regularly to enjoy each other's company and reminisce, and is a past member of the Red Hat Society.  Funeral services will be held Thursday January 5 at 2:00 pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, DeWitt Chapel with internment following at DeWitt Cemetery.  Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8 pm and one hour prior to funeral.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Greater Lansing Food Bank or The Salvation Army. "I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me" John 14:6
