On Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, the Lord called for Eva Maria Garcia to return to his side after living a long and wonderful life here on Earth. She was born on June 20, 1922, to the late Hipolito Apodaca and Ramoncita Apodaca, in Las Vegas. She was a lifelong resident of Las Vegas and lived the last 12 years of her life in Los Lunas. She was a devoted Roman Catholic and lifelong member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Las Vegas. She was preceded in death by her father: Hipolito Apodaca; mother: Ramoncita Apodaca; husband: Ofrendo Garcia; brother: Joe Apodaca; sisters: Rebecca "Becky" Lefebre and Coreen Apodaca; son-in-law: Robert Garcia; sons: Manny and Larry Garcia; grandson: Rick Flores; and her friend of many years: Juanita P. Sanchez, all of Las Vegas. Eva is survived by her two daughters and two sons: Lucy Salinas and husband, Richard of Las Vegas, Lorraine Garcia of Las Vegas, James "Jimmy" Garcia of Los Lunas and Patrick "Black Jack" Garcia and wife, Sheila of Los Lunas; two brothers and two sisters: Rudy Apodaca and wife, Merry, George Apodaca, Vickie Paiz and Estella Roybal and husband, Juan all of Tucumcari. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews as well. A viewing will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday at Romero Funeral Home Chapel in Belen with a rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. A viewing will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Las Vegas with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. A final visitation will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Las Vegas with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Julian Jaramillo, Timothy Flores, George Apodaca, Robbie Salina, Leo Trujillo and Ermie Sanchez. Honorary pallbearers are the extended family of Patrick and Sheila Garcia.
