Eva M. ThomasEva M. Thomas, 79, of Lafayette, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2013 in IU Health Arnett.Eva was born on May 16, 1934 in Glasgow, KY to the late Samuel H. Birge and Helen Louise (Thurman) Birge Nance.On August 26, 1979, she married Donald G. Thomas in Lapel, IN and he survives.Eva worked as a seamstress for Home Hospital and previously worked for Thorntown Textile and Brockway Glass in Lapel. She attended worship services at the Indiana Veterans Home Chapel, where she had been a patient for the past 2 years. Eva loved to sew and camp with her family. Eva is survived by her husband, Donald; her sons, Jerry Joe Howe of Thorntown and Clyde Denham, Jr. of Veedersburg; stepson, Grady (Amy) Thomas of Lafayette; stepdaughter, Donna (Kent) Doerffel of Fort Wayne; a sister, Diane Lynn Zachary of Westfield; and brothers, Roger (Tootie) Birge and Larry (Jenny) Birge, both of Lafayette. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren and 5 step grandchildren.Services will be held on Monday, September 30 at Indiana Veterans Home Chapel at 2 p.m. with Chaplain Hess officiating. Interment will follow at Plainview Cemetery in Colfax. Friends may call from noon until 2 p.m. at the Veterans Home Chapel.
