Eva Beatrice Crisp Medlin, met her Lord and Savior, reuniting with her family in their heavenly home. She was born on September 14, 1936, in Waskom, Texas, to Inez Viola Blackstone Crisp and Buck Junior Crisp. She died on November 30, 2016. Bea Medlin was an exuberant, joyful woman who loved her family and friends. After graduating from North Texas State University, she began her teaching career in 1957. She continued her teaching career, graduating with her MS in Education and MS in Early Childhood Education from SFASU, passionately teaching over 45 years until her retirement from Lufkin ISD in 2002. She garnered many awards during her teaching tenure and was well-loved by teachers, principals and students alike. She was especially proud to be asked to "loop" with a group of students at Herty Elementary, teaching them from first through fourth grade. Bea enjoyed her weekly beauty shop visit with her friends at Studio 319 in Lufkin. Survivors include the father of her children, Will Medlin; her adored daughters and their husbands, Lisa Medlin Griffin and Dr. Fred D. Griffin, DDS, and Tammy Medlin Schneider and Ronnie D. Schneider. Bea's reason for retirement was to enjoy her grandchildren whom she loved "mostest", admired and of whom she was so very proud. Tate Garrett Schneider, a junior mechanical engineer at the University of Houston; William Stanger Griffin, a 2015 graduate of the University of Texas and a member of the Texas Golf team, now playing professional golf, Taylor Lynn Schneider, a 2015 graduate of the University of Texas at Tyler, after playing volleyball for Wharton Junior College; Tyler Grant Schneider, a Lance Corporal currently serving in the United States Marines, and David Pruitt Griffin, a freshman at the University of Texas and a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Martha Jo Crisp; nieces and nephews, Chris Crisp, Mike Crisp, Pam Crisp Journey, Liz Crisp Noakley, Chad Crisp, Joe Buck Crisp, Beth Cathey Burton and Julie Cathey Cummings; former brother and sister-in-law, Oscar and Joan Medlin and former brother-in-law, Jack Medlin; nieces, Linda Medlin Mirsepassi, Susan Medlin Flesher, Kelley Medlin Morton and Kevin Medlin; and life-long friends, Liz Hancock, Judith Runnels and Mary Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Pansy Annette Crisp; sister, Dora Dean Crisp Cathey; brother, Franklin Terrell "Sonnyman" Crisp; brother-in-law, Glenn Cathey; niece, Kim Medlin Kovaks; and nephew, Mark Medlin. A memorial service will be held in Bea Medlin's honor at 1919 S. John Redditt Drive in St. Cyprian's Episcopal Church on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at 2 p.m. Visitation with the family will begin at 1 p.m. in the church Parlor prior to entrance into the Sanctuary. Music will be performed by her nephew, Joe Buck Crisp. Eulogy will be given by St. Cyprian Rector Father Ralph Morgan. Per her request, Ms. Medlin's ashes will be spread and interred between her parent's graves in Concord Cemetery in Waskom, Texas, Sunday, December 18, 2016. In Lieu of Flowers, please make a donation to the or to St. Cyprians Episcopal Church Rectory Discretionary Fund. Services are in the care of Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home.
