Ethelene Milam CarterEthelene Milam Carter was born on March 4, 1949 in Beckville, TX to Benjamin and Aleen Milam. She passed from this life April 11, 2017 in Lafayette, LA at the age of 68.She is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Aleen Milam; four brothers, Mark Milam, Chester Milam, "Benji" Milam, and Daniel Milam; three sisters, Benilou Milam, Charlene Milam, and Betty Jean Sipes; and one son, David Carter. She is survived her husband, James David "Jimmy" Carter; three sons, James "JimBob" Carter and wife Amanda of Winnsboro, LA, Joel Carter and wife Alicia of Houston, TX, and Matthew Carter of Alexandria, LA; three daughters, Jamie Blanco and husband Rafael of Baton Rouge, LA, Erin Carter of Carrollton, TX, and Julie Williams and husband Daniel of Alexandria, LA; one daughter-in-law, Rena Carter of Bossier City, LA; three brothers, Ronnie Sipes of Milton, FL, Ted Sipes and wife Audrey of Tenaha, TX, and Kenneth Milam of Carthage, TX; one sister, Sheila Edwards and husband Johnny of Waskom, TX; 11 grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.Ethelene began a very special ministry at a young age - caring for others and serving as a mother figure to many people in her life. She will be remembered for her encouraging words and her attentiveness to all of the special moments in the lives of those she loved. She was a witness of the saving grace of Jesus Christ and was a soul winner for the Kingdom. She deeply cared for life in all forms - from loving her precious family to spoiling her puppies to tending to her plants. She was a devoted wife to Jimmy for 49 years, leaving an immeasurable legacy of faithfulness and love. She embodied the virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31 - valued far more than rubies, working willingly to provide for her family and everyone in need, covering her household with prayers of prosperity and protection, and living in the fear of the Lord all of her days. Services for Ethelene will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Jerry Dean, Rev. Sammy Draper and Rev. Curtis Spears officiating. Interment to follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park.
