Esther Mayet, 86, entered eternal rest on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at home with her family at her side. She was born on Dec. 23, 1925, in Lockport and later on became a resident of Raceland.Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church in Raceland and from 8 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.She was survived by her husband of 66 years, Milton Jean Mayet; her children, Danny Mayet and fiancee, Camelia Compeaux, Betty M. Melancon and husband, Larry, and Janet M. Brochard and husband, Scott; one brother, Evariste Grabert Jr.; one sister, Euncie G. Falgout; grandchildren, Shelly Mayet Chiasson, Linsey Mayet, Jill Melancon Matherne, Jason Brochard and Lauren Brochard; and great-grandchildren, Jordan Chiasson and Connor Chiasson.She was preceded in death by her parents, Evariste and Lucia Guidry Grabert; her brothers, Euclid Grabert Sr. and Hubert Grabert; sisters, Ada G. Breaux and Hilda G. Falgout; and grandchildren, Brent M. Mayet and Scott A. Melancon.She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She devoted her life to serving others being a nurse for approximately 50 years.The family would like to express thanks to the staff of Oshsner St. Anne Hospital and Southern Care Hospice.Thibodaux Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
