Esther Anne ChampionLONDON, KY: Esther Anne Champion, 86, formerly of Mansfield, OH, peacefully passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2017 with her daughter by her side. She joyfully entered the gates of heaven and was reunited with her husband, Charles.Esther was born on March 29, 1931 to William and Helen Neumann, and she was a 1949 graduate of Madison High School. She married her sweetheart, Charles Champion, on May 29, 1954, and they had many happy years together before his death in 2016. Esther worked for over 40 years in the Accounting Department at Lumbermens Mutual Insurance Company. She was a life-long member of First Assembly of God in Mansfield, where she faithfully attended and taught Sunday School. Esther's favorite activities included spending time with loved ones, cooking, shopping and reading. She cherished every moment spent with family and truly loved and cared for every single person she came in contact with. Esther is survived by her daughters, Yvonne (Tim) Baggs of London, Kentucky, and Carol (Patrick) Coovert of Mansfield. Esther is also survived by her grandchildren, Kristen (Mike) DeVenny of Columbus, Felisha (Chris) Henson of Corbin, Kentucky, and Jonathan Baggs of London, Kentucky; sister, Ruth Schad of Galena, Ohio; brother-in-law, Dick Muegge of Ashland; three step-grandchildren, Ryan (Lauren) Coovert, Nathan (Kim) Coovert, and Megan (Stephen) Levas; as well as three great-grandchildren, Titus, Trinity and Benjamin; and five step-great-grandchildren, Alexander, Amelia, Liam, Xavier, and Remy; numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends; and "adopted son", Terry Montgomery.She was preceded in death by her loving husband, parents, and sister, Gertrude Muegge.The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Hospice of Laurel County, Kentucky and Home Helpers Home Care for providing such wonderful care for Esther and making her last days as comfortable and peaceful as possible.Friends may visit from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, September 24, 2017 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd. The funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at First Assembly of God, 1000 McPherson St., Mansfield, conducted by Rev. Thomas Blair.
