Ernie Gene Danner, 84, of Kingwood, Texas passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2013 from complications of respiratory disease. She was born on August 9, 1928 to Ernie and Eula Elrod Bonner on a farm in Tichnor, Arkansas. After her father died in 1933,Ernie Gene was raised in DeWitt, AR where her single mother owned and operated a millinery shop. Started in the middle of the Depression, Bonner Millinery was an institution on the court house square for the next thirty years and Ernie Gene spent many hours there growing up.After attending Hendrix College, Ernie Gene was married to Harvey D. Danner, Jr. on June 6, 1948. They started their lives together in their hometown of DeWitt, and then moved to Texas initially in 1956 and for good in 1966. Ernie Gene was a very talented woman, her hobbies included sewing, oil painting, stained glass, ceramics and quilting. She leaves a legacy of creativity in the people she has taught and the beautiful things she made. Ernie Gene was always eager to learn new technology and whether it was her I-pad or the latest computer operated sewing machine Ernie Gene easily added modern techniques to the skills she first learned from her mother. While she created many beautiful things Ernie Gene's greatest love was her family and friends. Whether it was a delicious family dinner or a fiercely contested card game; love, life and laughter were always in abundance. Ernie Gene was proceeded in death by her husband of 59 years, H. D. Danner, her parents, and her daughter-in-law, Yvonna Danner. She is survived by her children Lee Danner, Ernie Danner and wife Jackie, and Becky McAndrews and husband Bart. Memaw is survived by 8 grandchildren, Tim Danner and wife Carrie, Kara Hargrove and husband Garrett, Shannon Bennett and husband Chris, Kathleen McAndrews, Ray Danner, Joel Danner, Wesley Danner and Stephanie Danner. She was also the proud great grandmother of 7 great grandchildren, Emily Danner, Robin Hargrove, Adam Danner, Parker Bennett, Bryce Bennett, Chase Bennett, and Dalton Hargrove. A memorial service will be held at Rosewood Funeral Home in Humble, Texas on Saturday August 10, 2013 at 10:00am.
