Erika Diane Wells38, of Indianapolis, formerly of Spencer, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016. She was born on August 11, 1978 in Bloomington to Gordon and Diane (Glosson) Wells. She was a 1997 graduate of Owen Valley High School, she received her Bachelors Degree from Indiana Wesleyan University and her Master's Degree from IUPUI. She was a teacher at Rhoades Elementary School in Wayne Township, Indianapolis for 15 years. She was a Relay for Life Coordinator for the school and served as a Spell Bowl Coach. She assisted preschool parents transition from preschool to Kindergarten each year. Erika supported the "Girls on the Run" club and served as an assistant track coach at the Middle School. She volunteered at Butler Basketball games as a ticket taker for "Indy Runners" fund raiser. She was also well-known within the running and cycling community, having done many triathlons and marathons. She was a member of Pleasant Christian Church of Greenwood, where she was active with the youth and went on mission trips, and a former member of Spencer United Methodist Church.Erika is survived by her parents, Gordon and Diane Wells of Spencer, a brother, Gavin Wells (Jenna) of Spencer, nephews, Warner and August Wells of Spencer.Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Sunday October 16, 2016 at Shiloh Wesley Chapel, 2103 N. US Highway 231, Spencer, IN. Rev. Alvin McFadden will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-6 p.m., Saturday and 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. Arrangements are with West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer.A memorial service will be held at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church of Greenwood, 381 N. Bluff Rd., Greenwood, IN, on November 12, 2016. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. with the service at 2 p.m.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Wells Family Community General Fund at the Owen County Community Foundation, PO Box  503, Spencer, IN 47460, and the "Girls on the Run" Club, in care of Rhoades Elementary School 502 S.
