Mullen, EmmaJan 18, 1923 - June 21, 2016Emma F. Mullen was born on January 18, 1923 to John W. and Florence E. (Kershner) Forry and died on June 21, 2016. Along with her beloved brothers John H and William, she grew up in Reading, PA. Demonstrating a keen intellect and signature individuality at an early age, she defied stereotypes by becoming an attorney at a time when women were not often admitted to law school. She married David Y. Mullen in 1951 and they lived and raised their family in Reading, PA until they retired to Englewood, FL in 1983. Unfortunately, her husband David died in 1987, not being able to enjoy much of his retirement years. Emma was an active member of her church, and had many friends with whom she played bridge and enjoyed social functions at the Boca Royale Club. Emma was a loving wife to her late husband David, mother to her son David and his wife Paula, and son John and his love of many years Kathy. Emma embraced life and lived it with gusto. She bought a corvette for herself to commemorate her 80th birthday and how she loved to drive it around town with the top down and the wind blowing through her silver hair. She was a world traveler, happily sharing her adventures with her family. Sharing was a word which could never be over-used by those who knew her. A generous and kind individual, Emma was happy to see those around her enjoying their lives as well. Emma remained a woman who valued individuality, and a loving and giving woman ready to greet everyone with a sweet smile until the end of her days. We all will carry her memory in our hearts always. Please join us in a celebration of life in honor of Emma on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 12:00 at the Boca Royale Golf and Country Club.
