Emil Eric Isler passed away on October 20, 2016 at the age of 93 after battling cancer. Emil "Miggi" Isler was born on March 13, 1923 in Zurich Switzerland, after attending high school in Zurich Emil attended an apprentice program for furniture making and later served in the Swiss Army as a Corporal in the Radio troops. In 1950 Emil applied for a Visa and traveled upon an old Dutch Freighter to the United States to visit his uncle. After just a couple of months of being in the United State Emil borrowed money for a Greyhound bus ticket to Sacramento where he would settle and reside for the next 66 years. Upon arriving in Sacramento Emil found a job doing woodwork as well as attending school to learn the English language and studying for his citizenship, which is where he would meet his future wife Severina Adorni. Emil married Severina his wife of 49 years in 1952 and that same year Emil partnered with Jim Mulhern and opened the ACME Cabinet Shop on 12th Street until its closing some 44 years later. Emil loved life, family, friends and community. Emil lived a full life and was an active member of the Sacramento Helvetia Verein and Dante Club. Emil enjoyed many hobbies over the years. Emil had his pilot license and piloted his own plane for 22 years. Emil also had a passion for motorcycles owning several of them over the years riding them well into his 80's. Emil also enjoyed skiing, biking, fishing, hunting, golfing and travel. Emil traveled extensively over the years and had been in Hawaii as recently as July. Emil was a beloved husband, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many. Emil was preceded in death by his wife Severina Isler and is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and family members. Family and friends are invited for a visitation service scheduled for Thursday October 27, 2016, 4:00p.m.-7:00p.m. at Nicoletti, Culjis & Herberger Funeral Home 5401 Folsom Blvd., Sacramento. His Celebration of Life will be held Friday October 28, 2016 at 11:00a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church 1333- 58th Street, Sacramento with a reception to follow.
