Elveena Grace Hill Obituary

Dec 09, 1928 - Dec 05, 2016

This obituary is administered by:
Hill, Elveena (Mimi) Grace 87, peacefully passed away the early morning of December 5, 2016 in Goodyear, Arizona. "Mimi" was born on December 9, 1928 in New Castle, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Fred and Verna Welker. She is one of 12 children and preceded in death by her Father, Fred Elmer Welker, her mother, Verna Jeanette Welker, 6 brothers and 4 sisters. She loved and was immensely loved by her family and we're certain there was a huge Welker celebration in Heaven. "Mimi" graduated from Union High School in New Castle, Pennsylvania and was their High School Majorette. In 1948, she married her "high school sweetheart", John H. Hill, and they moved to Arizona in 1951. She enjoyed athletics and her favorites were bowling and softball. Through those sports, she made many life-long friends that have stayed in touch all these years. She also loved singing and sang a strong alto in their church choirs. "Mimi" has been a life-long member of the Nazarene church that has included Eastside, Monte Vista and First Church of Prescott. Being 6' tall, she was once considered one of the "twin towers" in the choir's back row. "Mimi" was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who loved unconditionally. She worked for Loma Linda School for years as the "cafeteria ticket lady". In her later years, she volunteered her services at the "Open Door" in Prescott, AZ, where she enjoyed serving the homeless. Elveena "Mimi" is survived by John Hill, her loving husband of 68 years, son, John Hill Jr. (Janice), and two daughters, Elaine Niemann (John) and Joyce Reiff (Steve) and brother, Richard Welker (Ann). She leaves a long legacy with 9 grandchildren and 20+ great grandchildren. They surrounded their "Fram" with love and reminisced for a couple days before her passing. She loved them and they will treasure her forever. Family and friends were "Mimi's" passion and her home was a sanctuary to many. Elveena "Mimi" will be greatly missed, but we know she's with our Heavenly Father and we hold on to our memories that are filled with happiness and laughter because of who she was. "Mimi" requested a private burial and celebration of life. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her illness and have sent their condolences. You are loved.
