Hood, 89 of Pemberville, formerly of Zanesville died at 4:10 AM Sunday, May 29, 2016 at her residence under the loving care of hospice with family by her side.She was born on December 1, 1926 in Vesta Six, PA the daughter of Andrew Yager and Bertha Mesteller Yager.Elsie graduated from Centerville High School, Centerville, PA and Penn Commercial College of Washington, PA. She worked at W & J College and Sproat & Clark Accountants of Washington, PA. After locating to Ohio she worked as an accountant and supervisor of accounting for 44 years for the Buckeye Companies of Zanesville. She was a member of the Trinity United Presbyterian Church on Military Rd. & the United Presbyterian Church in Pemberville, the Brownsville Order of the Eastern Star, National Secretaries Association and Bethesda Senior League of Genesis Hospital. She is survived by her beloved son, R. Thomas "Tom" (Kathy Haver) Hood of Custar; grandsons, James(Michael) & Joseph (Bethany) Hood, step-grandchildren Andrew, Emily, and Michelle Haver, and Nolan Gill, many special nieces, including Joan, Carolyn and Yvonne, nephews, special nephew Joe De Angelis, a sister-in-law Barbara Pride and a brother-in-law James Homb; special friends, Sandi Bartoli, Joanne Buck and all the wonderful people at Otterbein. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Willard E. (Tom) Hood, brothers, Andy Yager and Jospeh Yager; sisters, Helen Pivovar and Irene Tordi and her loyal companion dog, Susie.There will be no public visitation or funeral services observed at this time and a Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at a later date at the Trinity United Presbyterian Church, Zanesville, OH.Memorial contributions can be made to the Trinity United Presbyterian Church, 830 Military Rd. or to the Muskingum County Animal Shelter Society.
