Ellen Johnson GriffinAge: 87 • WillistonEllen J. Griffin, 87, a lifelong resident of Williston, passed away peacefully at home with her daughters by her side on Saturday, June 3, 2017. She was born on February 24, 1930, the daughter of Lester and Marguerite Johnson. Ellen attended Williston and Burlington schools and graduated from Johnson State College.Upon graduation she taught school in a one room school house in Fayston, VT. Later she embarked on a long career at IBM. Upon her retirement she stayed busy working various part-time jobs as well as volunteering for Meals on Wheels. Ellen loved everything outdoors. Her greatest joy of all was her family, always treasuring the time she spent with each and every one of us. She especially liked the time with all of us together.Ellen is survived by her children Debra (Bill) Roya, Pamela Griffin, and Susan (Roger) St. Hilaire. Her grandchildren Will (Jessica) Roya, Kelly (Mark) Smith, Kalee (James) Robles, Emily (Jim) O'Shaughnessy, and Griffin and Allyson St. Hilaire. Her great-grandchildren Brandon and Austin Smith, and Chloe and Liam Roya.She also leaves a very special friend and sister-in-law, Barbara Hale and several nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by her parents, her brother and sister-in-law Ward and Mona Johnson.Special thanks to her two caregivers, Darlene Isham and Donna Burnett whom she was very fond of. The family would also like to express our deepest gratitude to Mary, Emily, Kelly, Chelsea and the rest of the VNA Hospice team.
