On November 2, 2016, Betsy passed on to live with her Lord, Savior and Friend, Jesus. She was born on March 9, 1924 in York, Pennsylvania to the late John and Hilda Pilkay. She is survived by a son, Ty Saltzgiver, and his wife Ann of Colorado Springs, Co., three grandsons, Jac III, Hunter and Davis; and a daughter, Mary Beth Edens, and her husband Mike of Winston-Salem, NC, and three grandchildren, Mary Hil, Chas, and Lexi, and two great-grandchildren, Heidi and Margaux.Betsy graduated in 1943 as valedictorian in her Dental Hygiene Class at the University of Pennsylvania. After marriage to her beloved Jac in 1947, they lived in Lewisburg, Pa., while Jac finished college at Bucknell University. They then moved to Philadelphia where Jac began a 40 year career with Alcoa Aluminum. Over the years they lived in Kansas City, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, and Charlotte - where they lived from 1962 until 2011. She spent her remaining years in Winston-Salem, NC, to be near her daughter and family.During her Charlotte years, Betsy volunteered as the secretary for Young Life, as a member of the local Young Life Committee, as a client interviewer for Crisis Control, and in Calvary Church's outreach to folks living in Nursing Homes. As a member of Myers Park Country Club, she surely enjoyed all of the friends and activities, especially golf and bridge. Perhaps, Betsy most loved teaching a Bible Study for 21 years to a sweet group of young women in Charlotte.Betsy was known as having the "aroma of Jesus", which she readily shared with those she loved most, her husband, children and grandchildren. She loved well and was loved. She was a fabulous mother. Her sweet presence pervaded through to the end, and she will be deeply missed. A private family graveside service will be held in York, PA. In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made to Anatoth Community Garden (which is the ministry of her grandson Chas Edens), PO Box 138, Cedar Grove, NC 27231.Condolences may be offered at www.HarryandBryantFuneralHome.com.
