Elizabeth Jane Corlew BriggsClarksville, TNElizabeth Jane Corlew Briggs, 85, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on February 15, 2017, at Walking Horse Meadows in Clarksville.Jane was born on June 29, 1931, in Cumberland Furnace, TN to the late William James "Bill Jim" Corlew and Ruth Ferrell Corlew. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Creson Briggs.Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2017, at 3:00 p.m., at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Rev. Greg Glover and Rev. Jamie Mandrell officiating. Burial will be in Sango Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from noon until the hour of service at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home. Graduating from Charlotte High School in 1949, Jane attended Austin Peay State College where she met her future husband, Creson Briggs. They were married on September 16, 1950, and shared 57 years of marriage before his death. Jane worked at the United States Army Hospital at Fort Campbell, KY where she managed the office of the orthopedic doctors and later, she worked at Harriett Cohen. Jane was an avid bridge player, playing in two bridge clubs. She also was an avid reader and supporter of our public library. Additionally, Jane was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed needlework, skills she combined to make many baby bibs for family and friends. Jane was a member of First Presbyterian Church.Jane is survived by her son, Carter (Pam) Briggs; her daughter, Cindy (Kurt) Bryant; sister, Linda Seay; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Bryant, Paul (Paige) Bryant, William Bryant, Emily Briggs (Chris) Johnson, and Grace Briggs; four great-grandchildren, Clayton McGregor, Hayden Bryant, Paxton Bryant, and Camden Johnson.Pallbearers will be Kurt Bryant, Paul Bryant, William Bryant, Chris Johnson, Jack Pruitte, Steve Wall, Mark Chester, Ed Oliver and Nate Sacks.The family wishes to express special thanks to Walking Horse Meadows and AseraCare Hospice for their excellent care of Jane.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 213 Main Street, Clarksville, TN 37040, Bethlehem United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1324 Gholson Road, Clarksville, TN 37043, or Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library, 350 Pageant Lane #501, Clarksville, TN 37040.Arrangements entrusted to Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, 1510 Madison Street, Clarksville, TN 37040.
