Eliza Jane Curtsinger Settles, 90, of Tatham Ridge Road, Willisburg, passed away at 5:21 p.m., Friday, Dec. 9, 2016, at the Hospice Care Center in Lexington.A native of Washington County, she was born on Oct. 20, 1926, to the late Benjamin Franklin "Benny" and Amelia Frances Chesser Curtsinger.She was a homemaker and attended the Mt. Freedom Baptist Church.Preceding her in death was her husband, J.D. Settles on May 16, 2010; three sons, Ronnie Settles on Jan. 10, 1976, Paul Keith Settles on Aug. 4, 2009 and Carroll Davis Settles on Nov. 26, 2011; three grandchildren, Brian Keith Chesser on Nov. 2, 2014, Stephanie Dale Hamlin on Feb. 7, 1976, and Rhonda Carol Frye on Sept. 16, 2007; six brothers, A.B. Curtsinger in 1919, Herbert Wayne Curtsinger on July 11, 1934, Charles E. Curtsinger on Nov. 6, 1966, Richard C. "R.C." Curtsinger on June 13, 1984, Johnny Curtsinger on Dec. 26, 2005, Billy Gene Curtsinger on Jan. 7, 2013, and one sister, Mattie Mae Hill on April 25, 1999.Survivors include seven daughters, Eleanor Moore (Allen) of Springfield, Barbara Lewis of Bloomfield, Judy Payton (Roger), Kathy Divine (Ernie) and Gloria Hamlin (Ronnie) all of Harrodsburg, Connie Chesser (Keith) and Sherry Boblitt (Roy Jr.) all of Willisburg; four sons, Benjamin Settles (Judy) of Springfield, Stevie Settles and Donnie Settles of Mackville and Gary Settles (Jessica) of Willisburg; 29 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Bessie Yates (Kenneth) of Springfield, Helen Cammack (James) of Willisburg, Nancy Campbell and Betty McIntrye (J.K.) of Louisville and a special friend, Sue Tucker.Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 13, at Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jamie Chesser, pastor of the Mt. Freedom Baptist Church, officiating.Burial was in the Peter Cemetery at Mackville.Serving as honorary pallbearers were Denita Simms, Faith Hackworth, Shannon Miles, Jessie Long, Kim Sagracy, Tiffany Lewis, Katina Harrison, Jennifer Hamlin, Lee Ann Lewis, Christy Boblitt, Jenna Settles, Misty Day and Kelly Johnson.Casket bearers were Dinky Settles, Craig Settles, Jason Settles, Eric Boblitt, Aaron Moore, Wayne Payton, Garnett Payton, Lee Divine, Justin Chesser and Bailey Settles.In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Gideons International, Disabled American Veterans or Hospice of The Bluegrass.Carey & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
