Eli Karin JensenRedding, CAEli was born on 2/10/38 to Alf & Margrethe Leknes in Bergen, Norway. Growing up in Nazi-occupied Norway was difficult, but still she thrived. In 1957 at 19, she married Reidar J Henriksbo. On Dec. 9 that year Roy was born, her only child. By then, they had emigrated to the U.S., settling in Eureka, CA. Four years later they divorced in Dec. 1961. She then met her true love, Kenneth W Jensen and married him Dec. 30 1962. From Eureka they moved to Marysville, Yuba City, & Concord, CA. before calling Redding home. By then Roy was in 2nd grade and she was 3 yrs. into a 30+ banking career. Along the way she joined the Sons of Norway, Shasta Lake Boaters, & the Moose Lodge. She became a U.S. citizen 1973. When Roy married Evie Hedman in 1980, she gained the daughter she always wanted. Eli enjoyed skiing, painting, sewing, camping, traveling, games, and being with friends. Her true passion was houseboating and fishing! For many years, at any time of year, you'd find her with Ken on the "Miss Eli" with a pole in her hand. Eli retired in 2003, and led a full & active life, and out-lived Ken by 6 yrs. Ken's loss was hard on her, but it was the 3rd bout with cancer that took her on Sunday Oct. 1st. Our small lady with the big heart and HUGE grit has joined Ken & her family once again. Words cannot convey the sorrow we feel in her passing... We love you so much, mom... A celebration of Eli's life will be held at Lulu's restaurant Sunday Oct. 15 @ 3:00pm.
